Born in Peru, Ananu Gonzales Posada studied sociology at the Universidad Católica, Caracas, Venezuela. Later she did a BA in Bellas Artes at the Universidad de Barcelona and took here MFA at the Slade School of Fine Arts of London. She also studied a Postgraduate Degree on Education at the UCL Institute of Education.
Ananu is one of the in-house tutors on the Foundation Program, where she also teaches Recent Art History.
What is your preferred artistic medium and why?
I dont have a preferred artistic medium … but I do like simplicity. If I have to name a something I would say paper.
When did you last show your own work, and where?
It was a group show last July in a gallery in Lima, where I showed 5 pieces.
What is your favorite artist and why?
I don’t have a favorite artist. Nowadays I’m interested in artists that work with space creating specific situations.
What should a good art school offer?
A good art school should offer inspiration, different points of views from tutors. Technical tools to communicate in the best possible and to learn in-depth thinking and connecting processes. The freedom to do honest work, where personal curiosities of any kind are welcomed to be explored with out being pushed to a dogma or agenda.
Where would you go today in Barcelona, and what would you do there?
I like going to read in public random places. I enjoy like the bars and cafeterias surrounding the area of any local market .
