What is your preferred artistic medium and why?
I started working in paintings, making several art series in this medium. I worked too in different graphic mediums as drawing, screen printing, etching and photography. Little by little I turned to three dimensional language, working in a mix between two and three dimension artworks first and big size sculptures later. I love matter, I love tangible artworks, so my preferred medium is sculpture. Nevertheless, recently I’m working again in a series of paintings! When did you last show your own work, and where?
Last time I showed my work was one month ago in Cultural Center ‘Arts Santa Mònica’ (Barcelona) in the ArsLibris International Contemporary Art Fair. I presented some of the works I made during my research while invited by the Museu Molí Paperer de Capellades as a Artist in Residence.
What is your favorite artist and why?
When I was 19 I had a revelatory experience in front of one painting by Catalan artist Antoni Tàpies (1923-2012). From that moment I decided to be an artist. He taught me how Art could bring some light to the great mysteries of life.
What should a good art school offer?
In my opinion, artistic training consists basically in let yourself making mistakes. It’s the perfect moment for that! An art school should offer a working space with tools for individual investigation, teach techniques, and professional tutors for asking both technical and conceptual guidance if needed, all that in an open minded environment.
Where would you go today in Barcelona, and what would you do there?
I’m going to my studio now, in the centre of Gràcia quarter, in order to continue on my own research. After some hours working there, I’ll call some friend and go to some restaurant surrounding for eating a good Mediterranean rice in its terrace!
